Two die near site of earlier DeKalb fatality

A man who was driving and a teenage passenger were killed, and and three other teens were injured, when the driver lost control on a curve and crashed in the 2500 block of River Road in the Ellenwood area near Cedar Grove High School.

Sunday’s wreck took the lives of the driver, Hammam Southerland, 27, of Ellenwood, and a 17-year-old passenger, Gregory Brown of Ellenwood. Decalb County police said Southerland was speeding when he lost control of his Lexus, flipping at least twice before smacking into a telephone pole. Both victims died on impact.  DeKalb police said Monday that three males sitting in the back seat, Mario Gavin and Jeremy Brown, both 18, and a 17-year-old whose name has not been released, were treated at Grady Memorial Hospital and released.

Another teen in car killed
DeKalb County police said a 14-year-old was driving a car that crashed early Sunday morning, killing another teen and leaving the driver and three other youths injured.  All of the occupants of the vehicle were only 12 to 14 years old, police said.  The accident happened along eastbound River Road near Waldrop Road about 1:30 a.m. when the young driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and struck a utility pole, said Mekka Parish, a DeKalb police spokesman.  A 14-year-old male passenger was killed. The other teens were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, Parish said.  Charges are pending against the driver, Parish said. Authorities declined to release the driver's name, the dead teen and the three others in the vehicle.

Teen Charged in hit-and-run

Police charged an Athens teenager Friday with drunken driving and vehicular homicide in the hit-and-run death of an Athens woman as she walked along Commerce Road last Saturday night with her 3-year-old son.  The 15-year-old is being charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, DUI, underage consumption of alcohol and driving without a valid license, Eckert said.  The teen was taken to the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center on Friday evening, Eckert said.  It was not certain late Friday whether the suspect would be charged as a juvenile or adult.

Teen killed in Alapaha crash
An Alapaha teen was killed after he lost control of his car in the rain. State Troopers say 17-year-old Martin Gonzalez was driving on Highway 129 just North of Alapaha Saturday evening.  Gonzalez hit a standing pool of water, hydroplaned and slammed into a tree.  30-year-old Jorge Escueero of Moultrie was also in the wreck.  He was treated and released from Tift Regional.

Driver charged in death of sleeping teen has DUI convictions
A teenager died early Sunday morning when a Ford F-250 pickup plowed through his home.  Cobb police charged Janette L. Eason, who has a criminal record, with first-degree vehicular homicide and DUI, criminal trespass, and criminal damage to property.  She careened into the neighborhood, knocking down mailboxes at four homes on both sides of Legend Hollow Lane before hitting Elliot's house, police say. The car went from one end of the house to the other.  Her bond was originally set at $35,000, but Cobb Chief Magistrate Judge Frank Cox raised the bond to $100,000 Monday morning after seeing news of the accident.  Cox said he checked Eason's criminal record and found convictions for two prior DUIs, driving without a license, and making terroristic threats. The record confirmed his decision to raise her bond amount, Cox said.On Monday, members of the Cobb police Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit took measurements of the places Janette Eason hit for an aerial map of the crime scene.  Elliot Savry was killed and his sister, Leah, sustained leg injuries in the crash.  Elliot Savry was killed and his sister, Leah, sustained leg injuries in the crash.

Teens were not wearing seatbelts 

A lee county teen was killed and two others were seriously injured in an automobile crash Monday night.  The wreck happened just before six on Forrester Parkway.  16-year-old Cole Lentz was passed away at the scene.  The other passengers, 15-year-old Michael Smith and 16-year-old Garrett Heart were rushed to a local hospital.   State troopers say the three teens were in a pickup parked on the south side of Forrester Parkway, and tried to make a u-turn but instead collided with an oncoming utility vehicle.  The driver of the utility vehicle wasn't hurt. Investigators say none of the teens were wearing seatbelts.

Cobb County Teen Killed In Weekend Car Crash

A Cobb County teen died in a car crash just two days after graduating from high school.  Officials said 17-year-old Courtney Stroud crashed Monday on Ellis Road. Police said she was trying to pass a friend, swerved to avoid an oncoming van and hit a tree.  Channel 2 talked with Stroud’s mother about the popular teen.  “My daughter was amazing. That’s the best word for her. She lived life very completely fully. She was happy, she was courageous, she was strong-willed and she was a fighter,” said Melissa Stroud.  Police said Courtney Stroud was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from her car during the crash.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.

Teen Killed when ATV Hits Utility Pole

 A 14-year-old LaGrange boy was killed when he was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle into a utility pole.

Ben Edward Reed Jr. was a passenger Sunday on a four-wheeler driven by another teen when the accident occurred off Baileys Way in LaGrange, in west central Georgia. Police said it's not clear how Reed and the 14-year-old driver were thrown from the ATV. The driver, who was not named, was taken to West Georgia Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.  Police are investigating. No charges have been filed.

Bluffton Teen Killed in Crash
17-year-old Josh George passed away Wednesday evening at Memorial Health.  His car was struck by an alleged drunk driver in Bluffton while Josh was on his way home from prom early Sunday morning.  Counselors today were on hand at Josh's school, and his family has set up a memorial scholarship fund in his honor. Private funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, and a vigil in memory of Josh will take place at 7 p.m. tonight at Bluffton High School's football stadium.  20-year-old Juan Jose Olague Roman is the alleged drunk driver.  Roman admitted this week the name he gave on arrest -- Juan Rodriquez -- was not his real name. Authorities say it may take up to two weeks to verify his identity.  They also say it's likely he will now face more charges, including possibly reckless homicide and felony DUI.

Warner Robins teen dies in crash
The 17-year-old Warner Robins High School junior got into an auto accident about 5:45 p.m. on Ga. 20 close to Hampton that would prove fatal to the young student-athlete.  He was taken off life support Tuesday at the Atlanta Medical Center.  Henry County sheriff's Capt. Jason Bolton said Renn was traveling west when his car drifted off the road. He overcorrected and the car crossed over a raised median, flipped at least twice and hit a car in an eastbound lane.  Renn was transferred by ambulance to the Henry County Medical Center and then airlifted to the Atlanta Medical Center. He was wearing his seat belt and there were no signs of speeding.  Bolton said the teenager was declared brain dead Monday but his family kept him on life support to allow his organs to be donated."That was something he did on his own," Tyler's father said Wednesday. "We just wanted to honor his request. It was something we talked about when he got his license, and I was proud that he made that decision."

Three Killed in Henry County Accident

Henry County police Saturday searched for answers as to what led to a one-car accident that killed three people. Police say the car skidded off Georgia 20 in northeast Henry County, near the Newton County line.  The car plunged over a hillside and landed in a ravine, at least 30 feet below the highway. Three men in the car died. They've been identified as Derron Anderson, 18, of Conyers; Torrence Blount, 18, of Conyers; and Naijah Grover, 17, of Conyers. All three were students at Salem High School in Rockdale County.  Police found skidmarks on the highway near where the car left it. Police say it happened sometime after 7 a.m. Saturday. They don't think the crash was alcohol-related.

Two teens hit by a car in Cobb County

Two teenagers waiting for a school bus were injured Monday morning by a young driver.  The accident occurred about 8 a.m. when a 17-year-old driving a burgundy Jeep Cherokee was northbound on Old Canton Road, said Officer Cassie Reece, a Cobb police spokeswoman.  The driver of the Jeep did not see a gold Nissan Maxima at Nestle Creek Drive, which was making a left turn onto Old Canton Road, Reece.  When the teenager did see the Maxima, he swerved and missed the car. But he hit the sidewalk and the two teenagers, who were waiting for a school bus.  The teen driver was not injured.  A 15-year-old girl was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.  A 17-year-old boy with her was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.  The accident remains under investigation.

Five Atlanta Teens Involved in Hit and Run
Atlanta police on Friday were searching five teens of a stolen minivan that spun out of control and slammed into and injured two people waiting at a bus stop.  The hit-and-run crash happened in the northwest part of the city when the teens saw police attempting to pull over another car involved in a separate incident.  When the group of teens in the minivan caught sight of the police, they tried to escape by making a U-turn — but hit the people at the bus stop instead.  The two people hit by the minivan were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Lee County Teen Dies in crash

Bradley Donald McDaniel, 19, and Dalton Dockery, 19, were discovered around 8 a.m. Saturday in McDaniel’s overturned Ford S-10 pickup, which had crashed into a tree along Carter Place Road, a dirt road in rural Lee County.
Dockery was prounounced dead at the scene. 
Lee County deputies called the Georgia State Patrol moments after arriving at the scene Saturday, though the wreck had apparently taken place several hours before, Lee Chief Deputy Dennis Parker said. 
McDaniel, of Nacoochee Drive in Lee County, had to be extricated from the vehicle but would later be treated and released from the hospital.  On Monday, troopers with the Georgia State Patrol had obtained warrants for McDaniel’s arrest, which were on file at the Lee County Jail.  The warrants show McDaniel was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane, unsafe driving and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, specifically, marijuana.  Booked Monday at the Lee County Jail, McDaniel was later released on $5,000 bond.

Worth County teen killed in head-on collision
18-year-old Steven Wayne Dietzel was  not wearing a seat belt and was on his way to pick up his younger brother and sister from school when his Ford Explorer was hit head-on by a Chevrolet Silverado on Red Rock Road about 3 o'clock.  Dietzel died instantly.  The driver of the Silverado was 17-year-old Jason Eugene Williams, who was severely injured. His passenger, 14-year-old Matthew Patton, was also hurt. Both Williams and Patton were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital with their injuries.  Troopers think Williams made an improper pass. If so, he will likely be charged with vehicular homicide.

Brunswick Teen dies
18-year-old Mikeal "Butterbean" Hodges, was struck by an allegedly drunken driver in a fatal hit-and-run accident on U.S. 17.  Hodges was rushed to the emergency room of the Brunswick hospital of Southeast Georgia Health System, where he passed away from multiple trauma.  Enrique Martinez, 25, has been arrested and charged with first degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. He also was charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container.

Forsyth County Student Dies in Roll Over Crash
Derek Austin Buraczynski, a 17-year-old at South Forsyth High School passed away early on Wednesday morning.  Investigator Ron Tomblin said Buraczynski's 2000 Ford Explorer was on southbond Ga. 400 and exiting onto Ga. 141 when the accident occurred.  The teen's vehicle was on the exit ramp when it rolled over several times and came to rest with its top against a pine tree, Tomblin said.  Austin was killed instantly.  A passing motorist spotted the wreck just after 5 a.m. Wednesday and called 911.  Austin's father reported him missing after he wasn't home by his 11 p.m. curfew Tuesday night.  The cause of the wreck is under investigation, but authorities said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.

Columbus Teen Struck and Killed
A Columbus teen passed away early Sunday morning when he was struck by a car near the Columbus Metropolitan Airport.  Lamar Tyrone Anderson, 16, was struck near the intersection of Miller Road and Bridgewater Road around 3:30 a.m., said Police Capt. J.D. Hawk. He said Anderson was found in the roadway.  Charged with his death is Samantha Javors, 20, who turned herself in to police at about 3 p.m. Sunday, Hawk said.  Javors faces charges of homicide by vehicle, no state tag, improper lane change, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident that resulted in an injury or death.

Two Teens Die and One Charged

Two teens die and a third is injured in an accident that happened on Jefferson Road in Athens on Wednesday. The 14-year-old driver has been charged with vehicular homicide in the accident that killed two of his friends.  Eduardo, 14, is charged with homicide and other felonies, but since he is a juvenile, officials have not released his full name.  The boys were headed north on Jefferson Road about 5 p.m. when Eduardo lost control while swerving through traffic, clipped the side of one truck near Crescent Lane and spun into the path of another, oncoming truck.  None of the boys was wearing a seat belt, and all were thrown from the car.  Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, and Valdez later died from head injuries.  Heriberto Mercado was released from the hospital Tuesday, and Manuel Mercado remained at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, according to police.

Fulton County Teen Dies in Crash
An 18-year-old died and two passengers were injured following a car crash Tuesday afternoon in south Fulton County.  Police say the spokesman Gary Syblis said. Charges are pending against the two who survived the crash.rio may have been involved in a home burglary shortly before the crash.  Delmonti Royalston, 18, of College Park was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m., according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.  Two other teens in the car were injured and taken to Atlanta Medical Center, Fulton County police.  Charges are pending for the two having survived the crash.

Wrong Way Teen Driver Leaves Young Woman Dead
A 24-year-old woman died early Tuesday in a multi-vehicle wreck caused by a wrong-way driver on I-85 northbound. An autopsy will be needed to confirm that the victim was pregnant, police said.  The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Johnathan Day of Norcross. Day was listed in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. Once he recovers, Day will be transported to jail to face charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, marijuana possession, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway, police said.  Witnesses driving on Georgia 400 northbound near Lenox Road first spotted the black Lexus traveling southbound about 2:30 a.m. The Lexus continued traveling southbound after entering I-85 northbound, where it first slammed into a red Chevrolet carrying two passengers. The Lexus then struck a black BMW head-on that carried three people.  Ngoc Bich Tran of Greer, S.C., who was riding in the front passenger’s seat of the BMW, died at the scene, authorities said. Her boyfriend, the driver of that car, told people at the scene that she was pregnant.  Two other victims of the crash were taken to Grady Memorial in serious condition with two more taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

Kingston County Teen Charged
A Kingston teen was arrested Sunday after an early morning accident on Highway 293 that injured two of his passengers. 
Chase Allen Davenport, 18, of 1075 Kingston Highway, Kingston, was arrested by the Floyd County Police Department and charged with DUI -- alcohol, open container, failure to maintain lane and a seat belt violation, according to published reports.  A 15-year-old passenger, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.  According to witnesses, he crawled out from under the SUV, was lying on the ground behind the SUV and appeared to be seriously injured when EMS arrived.  He and the fourth passenger, who is 19 years old, were taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. Both are of Rome.  At the scene, Davenport told officers he fell asleep and did not remember exactly what happened during the accident.

Henry County Teen Killed

Henry County Police say 16 year old Joseph White passed away Sunday, November 11th,  when he was hit by a car at the intersection of Old Conyers Road and Old Conyers Drive.  It happened around 12:30pm.  White was a student at Faith Academy in Stockbridge.  Police arrested 35 year old Larry Anthony Cooper.  He is charged with DUI, Vehicular Homicide and Failure to Maintain.  A makeshift memorial marks the spot where White was killed.

Gwinett Teen Killed
Zohaib Somani, 16, lost his life when a Mazda 6 in which he was riding lost control and struck two other vehicles near Lawrenceville. Witnesses told police that the Mazda and a Honda Accord were speeding east on Sugarloaf Parkway toward Old Norcross Road about 7 p.m. when a third car pulled out of a driveway.  The Honda clipped that vehicle, and the impact caused the Honda to cross the median into oncoming traffic, said county police Cpl. Illana Spellman.  The Mazda, which was traveling behind the Honda, swerved to avoid the first collision, also ended up in oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Kia Sportage, Spellman said.  The Mazda's driver was critically injured and was taken to a local hospital, police said. The Honda's driver was not hurt, while the drivers of the other two cars were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Police have not yet identified the drivers in the accident.  Somani was a junior at Peachtree Ridge High School.

A Dodge County Teen Killed
17-year old John Curtis Conner passed away Saturday evening at Taylor Regional Hospital. He was the only passenger in a 1994 Dodge Dakota driven by 18-year old Michael Dustin Noles. The State Patrol says that Noles was traveling south on Junior Simpson Road when he accelerated the vehicle while driving around a curve. Noles lost control of the vehicle. It traveled 205 feet off the shoulder after impact and overturned. The State Patrol says that charges won't be determined until blood test results are complete and the GBI issues its report. It's customary for the GBI to investigate any accident when there is a fatality.

Lilburn Teen Killed
Gwinnett County police are looking for the driver who may have caused a crash that left a teenager dead in Lilburn. 
The three-vehicle crash on Lawrenceville Highway near Sugarloaf Parkway also injured three people — including a pregnant teenager.  Witnesses say one of the cars involved in the wreck and the car that left the scene may have been street racing.  One of the cars lost control just before 7 p.m. Sunday, crossing the centerline and hitting another car head on before sideswiping a sport utility vehicle.  The injured are being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and Gwinnett Medical Center.

Police later charged Jeffrey Kim Aviles as a juvenile with operating without a valid license, failure to maintain a lane and second-degree vehicular homicide.

Roswell Teen Killed in Head On Collision
A Wheeler High School honor student died Monday morning in a head-on collision in Roswell.  Roswell police said Samuel James Eisen, 18, of Marietta, was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima southbound on Ga. 9 shortly after 11 a.m., when he passed another southbound car and ended up in the northbound lane. The northbound Ford F350 truck swerved into a center turn lane to avoid the Nissan, but the Nissan also swerved into the turn lane and the two vehicles collided just south of Woodstock Street, police said.  Police said no charges will be filed, since Eisen was at fault. The driver of the truck was identified as Jeffery Scott Fidanza, 32, of Acworth.  Roswell police Lt. James McGee said Eisen was a senior at Cobb County's Wheeler High, where he was in the honors program.  Eisen was returning to school from a morning internship at a business in Alpharetta when the wreck happened, said Christopher Neill, a teacher at Wheeler High. Neill said Eisen was a member of the school robotics team.

Roswell Teen in Critical Condition
17-year-old William Carter was driving on Houze Road in Roswell when he lost control of his car and swerved in front of an SUV.  Carter was traveling southbound on Houze Road in a Honda Accord just after 10:00 p.m. Friday, when he lost control, over-corrected and struck an oncoming Chevrolet Suburban.  Carter suffered massive head trauma and was admitted to the intensive care unit at North Fulton Regional Hospital. Passengers of the oncoming vehicle suffered minor injuries.  Investigators said there was no indication of excessive speed or alcohol involvement in the accident, but as of Saturday night, the crash was still under investigation.

Cherokee County Teen Dies

A car accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy Thursday.  The accident happened on Highway 20 in Cherokee County around 3:30 p.m.  The teen was driving a white pick-up truck when it collided with a silver SUV, just west of Knox Bridge Road.  The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the name of the victim had not been released as of Thursday night.

Darlington Teen Charged with Vehicular Homicide
Floyd County police and the Floyd County jail have confirmed that a 17 year old male has been charged with vehicular homicide, driving on the wrong side of the road and wreckless driving in connection with an accident death on Burnett Ferry Road Wednesday morning. 
17 year old Michael Andrew Ostbye is in the Floyd County jail after the morning accident that killed 50 year old John Kerney of a Wilkerson Road address. Police say a white Nissan Exterra driven by Ostbye crossed in the oncoming lane and struck Kerney.  Officials say, Ostbye is a Darlington student who recently moved to Floyd County from Florida.

Pregnant Mother Struck
A pregnant mother who was struck by an 18 year-old driver succumbed to her injuries stemming from a pedestrian accident the occurred on August 24, 2007. According to authorities, Djuana Thomas
, 22 weeks pregnant at the time, was crossing Mobile Street pushing her daughter Samiya Jordan in a stroller when the 18 year old driver struck both her and her 1 year-old daughter.  The accident was the result of a pedestrian violation.

Smith Station HS Grad Dies in Crash
Taylor Zito, 18, who was driving a Nissan Xterra, was on the east-bound ramp off Summerville Road preparing to merge onto U.S. 80 when a Chevrolet Silverado headed westbound on the highway crossed the median, slamming head-on into Zito. Zito was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m. at The Medical Center in Columbus.  Walter Gunn, the 83-year-old driver of the Silverado, also was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for a possible collapsed lung.  "It was a pretty severe impact," Staudinger said. The rain may have contributed to the accident.  No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation, he said.  Zito's mother, Sharron Zito, said his girlfriend of more than three years also was in the car, and suffered a concussion and broken pelvis but would be alright. Sharron Zito said her son had picked up his girlfriend from cheerleading practice and was taking her home.  Taylor Zito finished high school this year and was making plans to attend Southern Union State Community College in Opelika next year, and he was interested in landscape architecture, she said.  "Every day of my life, I was so proud of Taylor," said father Roy Zito.  "He was just a wonderful kid. There were about 100 people at the emergency room last night. It's just a huge hole in our heart".

Two Brothers Die in Crash
A Union City family is grieving after two brothers were killed in a violent car crash. Jeremiah and Ahmaad Ross were passengers in a car that police say was speeding and lost control along Camp Creek Parkway early Sunday morning. The teenage driver survived the crash.  16-year-old Jeremiah -- a popular football player -- and 15-year-old Ahmaad -- the creative planner -- were both killed in a car accident early Sunday morning. Police said the boys' were just passengers in a car driven by 17-year-old Jarvis Shields, when Shields lost control while speeding around another car. Shields survived but the Ross brothers did not. Now their mother wants to warn other parents and their children about the dangers of young drivers. Police said they expect to charge Shields with two counts of vehicular homicide.

Two Faulkville Teens Die

2 people die from injuries sustained in a single-car accident on Interstate 16 just inside the Bryan County line on Sunday night.  Allen Whiteaker, 19, and Madison Floyd, 18, were riding in the left lane of I-16 between Old River Road and U.S. 280 about 8:40 p.m. when they made a lane change to the right lane then veered onto the shoulder and went off the roadway, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chad Gray said.  The black Honda Civic, driven by Whiteaker, went down an embankment and came up the other side. The car sideswiped a pine tree with its right front tire, rotated 90 degrees and slid into an oak tree on the driver's side, Gray said.  No seat belts were in use at the time of the accident, Gray said.  Whiteaker and Floyd were killed at the scene.  The accident is under investigation, and it is not clear why the vehicle veered off the road, Gray said.  Floyd graduated from South Effingham High School this past school year,said Pam Cox, spokeswoman for the Effingham County Board of Education.

Albany woman killed in Habersham wreck
The person killed in a traffic accident in Habersham County Friday afternoon is identified as 30-year-old Mary Ann Parks of Albany.  The state Patrol says the crash happened when a car driven by 17-year-old Justin Kryak pulled into the path of a van belonging to Hands-on-Atlanta. Seven other people in the van were injured and taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Brooks Teen Injured in Crash
Mathew Norton, 17, was seriously injured on Wednesday when the jeep he was riding in flipped over top of him, pinning him underneath.  Mathew was not wearing his seat belt.  He was flown from the scene to Atlanta Medical Center where he was last heard to be in critical but stable condition, deputies said. 
Norton was the front-seat passenger in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven east on Friendship Church Road by Todd Brock, 17, of Treillage Lane, Peachtree City, police said.  Brock and another passenger in the rear of the Jeep, Trey Lawson of Grapevine Curve, Peachtree City, suffered minor injuries in the crash, police indicated.  The Jeep had been removed from Norton by the time one of the first deputies arrived on the scene, police said. Police could not initially confirm whether or not Brock and Lawson managed to push the vehicle off Norton.  Speed was a factor in the crash, investigators say Brock was driving too fast for conditions.  Deputies have said they intend to file charges against Brock in the case, but they have not yet formally done so.

Moultrie County Teen Facing Charges
 
Cecil Bowers, 62, passed away Saturday at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville after he was struck by a vehicle in his own driveway early that morning.  Eighteen-year-old Carson Joseph Spivey of Moultrie has been charged with first degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, underage consumption of alcohol and failure to maintain lane, a Georgia State Patrol spokesman said.  Spivey was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee north on Old Timey Trail at 6:57 a.m. Saturday, the GSP said, when he lost control on a curve and left the roadway on the north shoulder. The Jeep hit Bowers and his dog at the edge of his driveway.

Teen from Ben Hill County Dies in Early Morning Wreck

Jimmie Cotterman, 18, died at the scene of a deadly crash on Sturgeon Creek Road in rural Ben Hill County just before 11 a.m.  Three others — Brandi Hutchenson, 17, Robert “Bobby” Braxton, 18, and the vehicles driver, Joseph Adam Vaughn, 18 — were all seriously injured in the crash. Police investigators say that Vaughn was under the influence of alcohol, speeding, lost control of the vehicle, turned sideways and was skidding when he hit a pine tree and folded the truck around it. Vaughn was ejected and the other three, who were passengers in the truck, were found inside the wreckage. Hutchenson was floan by life flight to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Vaughn and Braxton are listed in serious condition. The Georgia State Patrol’s Douglas Post and the GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.

Teen Dies in Cherokee County Crash
Colin Brennan, a senior at Etowah High School, was traveling on Towne Lake Parkway in Woodstock when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.  Colin later passed away from his injuries sustained from the accident.  Speed possibly played a role in this tragedy.

Tifton County Teen Incurres Multiple Charges
Brandon Farley, 18, turned himself into law enforcement officials Monday morning and is now facing multiple charges, including child molestation and statutory rape, after an early Monday morning incident that ended with his crashing his car into a tree.

Two Die in Floyd County Crash

The 15-year-old driver of a Dodge Neon collided with a Buick on Thursday afternoon at 2pm.  The wreck occurred on U.S. 411, north of Cave Spring.  The accident claimed the lives of the drivers both vehicles.  An 11-year-old passenger in the Dodge Neon was airlifted to Children's Health-care at Scottish Rite in Atlanta.  A passenger from the Buick and another from the Neon, who authorities identified as the children's mother, were both taken by ambulance to Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Officials had not yet released the names of the crash victims, as of Thursday afternoon.

Augusta Teen Dies


Andrew House, a 16 year old teen from North Augusta was killed in an early morning wreck.  The accident occurred on Highway 278/Sand Bar Ferry Road when his 1999 Dodge Ram truck struck a column under the Atomic Road bridge.  Police responded very quickly but the teen had already passed.  The North Augusta High School student was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy was performed this morning. Police say excessive speed is considered to be a factor in the accident. Though the truck was engulfed in flames when troopers arrived, the fire did not contribute to House's death.

Teen Hit and Run Charged


Cobb County police have charged a 17-year-old in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a 75-year-old driver.  The accident happened at approximately 6:15pm on Sunday on Cobb Parkway (at Bells Ferry Road) in Marietta.  Investigators say a 1992 Dodge was turning left onto northbound Cobb Parkway and was struck on the driver's side by a 1998 Ford Windstar that was southbound.  The driver of the Windstar fled the scene on foot.  The driver of the Dodge, Russell Godsey of Marietta, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he later past away from his injuries.

Buford Teen Expected to Survive
An 18-year-old Buford girl lost control of her Jeep on Sunday morning.  Kathryn Lynn Hamilton was thrown from her 1989 Jeep Wrangler when the vehicle overturned about 9:46 a.m. on Pleasant Hill Road near Breckinridge Boulevard, said Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney.  The teen was not wearing her seat belt and speed was definitely a factor in the cause of the accident.  While changing lanes, Moloney said, Hamilton turned a curve, lost control and her Jeep flipped. Moloney said the teen suffered serious injures and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where she is expected to survive.

Snellville Teen Dies
Investigators say 17-year-old Brookwood High School football player Daniel Victor Peek of Snellville was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee on Highpoint Road when he lost control on a curve. The Jeep ran off the road, hit a mailbox and overturned. Peek was ejected
. Officials also say he was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was a factor.

18 Year Old Teen From Columbus Looses His Life
Ryan E. Jackson, 18, of  Columbus, was killed in a wreck on County Line Road early Sunday morning, Muscogee County Coroner James Dunnavant said. Jackson was traveling in a large pickup truck with Collin Banazak and another male when control was lost of the vehicle.  None of the occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol may have been a factor.  The crash occurred at 10241 County Line Road. Deputy Coroner Bill Thrower pronounced Jackson dead at the scene at 4:05 a.m.

Teen Dies in SUV Rollover
An 18-year-old high school student, Phillip Silverman, from Marietta, was killed early Friday morning.  The SUV he was riding in overturned, authorities said. He was a back seat passenger in the vehicle that was headed south on I-75 in Turner County.  Sometime around 3:30 a.m., the driver drifted off to sleep, causing the SUV to veer off the edge of the highway near the city of Ashburn, said county Coroner Edgar Perry. The driver overcorrected and the SUV rolled over several times, Perry said. Silverman, who was wearing his seat belt, died at the scene of head injuries. The other teens were taken to Tift Regional Hospital.

Teen Dies in Jekyll Island Accident

Tristan Victoria Asbell died after the vehicle she was riding in veered off a Jekyll Island road.  The 14 year old teen was thrown in the single vehicle crash after it overturned. Tristan was the front seat passenger in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Laredo that preliminary investigation indicates was driven by a 16-year-old Brunswick boy. Two other Brunswick boys - ages 15 and 17 - apparently were passengers in the rear seat, said Cpl. T.E. Thrift of the Georgia State PatrolThere is an ongoing investigation that may result in charges.  Police indicated that the driver apparently was the only one wearing a safety belt.

Teen dies after exiting moving car
Brandon Buster, 18, of Douglasville became ill about 2:30 a.m. while riding in a Nissan Altima, authorities said.  The driver, Guy Brathwaite, 26, of Fayetteville, was in the process of slowing the vehicle to a stop on County Line Road so Buster could get out to vomit, authorities said.  But Buster opened the door while the car was still in motion, and was struck by a mailbox.  The approximate speed of the car upon the teens impact with the mail box was 15 mph.   Capt. Bryan L. Woodie said.  Buster was taken to Piedmont-Fayette Hospital, where he later past away. Woodie said the investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed.

One  Teen Dies, in the First Accident of Georgia's Spring Break Season
After returning from spring break, a fatal car crash occured after Daniel Sa lost control of his vehicle on I-85. The auto accident resulted in the death of Sa's passenger, Matthew Wayne Prather, 20, after the vehicle flipped over numerous times. The car wreck occurred in Opelika, Alabama after the two were returning from Panama City beach. Sa was also seriously injured in the auto accident and sought medical treatment at the Medical Center in Columbus. There has been no word thus far as to what, if any charges, will be filed as a result of this car crash.

Three Teens Die in Crash
Three Bryan County High School students' tragicly died after an accident occurred on Georgia 119 in Bryan County. The girls, two of which were sisters, were reportedly on their way to school when the driver lost control of his vehicle and veered into the oncoming lane of traffic. An on coming truck slammed into their vehicle after failing to stop.The 17 year old driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries in the collision and is in critical condition. The driver of the truck also sought treatment for his injures but they were not life threatening.

18 Year Old Teen Dies in Crash
A single-car crash killed 18-year-old Ashley Dawn Blevins of Homer in Banks County.  Ashley succumbed to her injures
after the Toyota 4Runner she was riding in overturned on Ga. 98, a half-mile west of Ervin Chambers Road and south of Homer, according to the Georgia State Patrol.  The driver was hospitalized in Atlanta with serious injuries and an additional passenger was also hospitalized with non life threatening injuries, police said.  Based on early reports, no one was wearing a seat belt.  All three were Banks County High School students.  The crash happened about 3:20 p.m., according to the state patrol. The 4Runner was going west on Ga. 98 when the driver over corrected for some reason, causing the sport utility vehicle to overturn.

Gainesville High Student Killed
Evan Wesley King, a junior at Gainesville High, died early Sunday after his car ran off Mount Vernon Road and hit a tree.  The teenager was traveling west on Mount Vernon in a 2004 Nissan 350Z when his car went off the road about 11:30 p.m., said Operator Aaron Church with the Georgia State Patrol's Gainesville post. "For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the north shoulder, down an embankment and struck a tree," Church said. No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured, he said. King was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. His cause of death was internal injuries to the chest, Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said.

15 Year Old Driver Causes Fatal Crash
The teen driver caused a fatal car crash when he pulled out in front of a semi at 5am on March 11th.  18-year-old Herbert Conselya a passenger in the teens car perished, 2 others were taken to local hospitals.  The 45 year old driver of the semi was uninjured.  The teen will be charged with vehicular homicide and faces other charges in relation to driving with out a person of 21 years or older in the car. It wasn't known whether teens were wearing seat belts.

Norcross High School Student Soon to Face Vehicular Homicide Charges

Bryce Dykes, 18, a student at Norcross High in Norcross Georgia was driving his Jeep Cherokee on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard when his vehicle slammed into the back of a Nissan Altima being driven by Michael Zhu. Zhu's passenger, Lind Lin of Roswell subsequently died as a result of her injuries. Now Dykes, the quarterback of the Norcross football team, faces possible vehicular homicide charges.

Two Teens Killed

Two teenagers were killed and four other seriously injured when they tried to outrun Clayton County police in a stolen car, authorities said.  Police said the driver, Obi Terrell Zachery Bailey, 17, of College Park, died at Atlanta Medical Center and David Austin, 17, of Riverdale, died in the crash as well.  Police said they were led on an eight-minute chase that reached speeds of 80 mph before the car left Camelot Parkway in Jonesboro and slammed into a tree.  Four others, from 14 to 19 years of age, were packed in the back seat and some were injured. Clayton police did not have their identities and conditions, but said the injuries were not life-threatening.  Police said Lt. Scott Stubbs saw a Honda Accord traveling without headlights. He pulled the car over and asked the driver to get out. Dispatchers told Stubbs the car had been stolen on Saturday. Moments later, the driver took off."

Two Teens Die in Fatal Crash

Two teenagers died after their vehicle struck another vehicle on Camp Branch Road in Gwinnett County Georgia. The teenagers were riding in a Chevy Malibu and attempting to negotiate a curve when the vehicle ran off the roadway, over-corrected and slammed into a utility truck that was headed in the opposite direction. The driver of the Malibu was treated at Gwinnett Medical Center with no life threatening injuries. The other two passengers subsequently died from their injuries. Gwinnett Police investigating the scene believe speed played a factor in the auto accident. No charges have been filed at this time. The names of the deceased have been withheld pending parental notification.

Fatal Crash kills Teen
J.C. Ferrel, a Central High School student, lost control of his vehicle and died as a result. The 17-year-old honor student and athlete was returning home from work when his vehicle apparently hydroplaned off Highway 166 in Bowden.

Teen, 16, causes deadly crash
A 13-year-old boy, Ahkeem Rodriguez Mathews, was killed after the vehicle he was riding in crashed after being chased by police. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old minor, was said to have taken the car without permission when it violently slammed into a telephone pole according to Maj. Tim Robinson of the Clayton County Police Department. The car, it is believed, hydroplaned off the road due to excessive speed prior to striking the pole. Mathews was pronounced dead minutes after the crash. The driver suffered numerous broken bones and was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital prior to his arrest. He is expected to face first degree vehicular homicide, theft of a motor vehicle and other charges to be determined later.
